Review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) by Jared W — 21 Jun 2013
Campy and fun, Power Ranges the Movie is the ultimate product of its time. Kids like me who felt the magic and allure of Power Rangers every single day couldn't have asked for a better picture that starred their favorite heroes.
Endowed with brand new costumes, and "cutting edge" computer generated effects 1995 standards effects lol, the Rangers shone immensely in this very traditionally structured epic quest film as they struggle to find a new power source.
The film also serves as a major turning point for how blockbuster entertainment is made by being one of the very first large scale productions to set up shop in New Zealand (a movie copied many times in the modern era).
Bolstered by the cast of TV regulars with some new faces (most notably veteran character actor Paul Freeman having great fun as the evil Ivan Ooze) the movie even manages to be quite watchable even today.
Every TV show that is loved by children deserves this sort of high end treatment that only a precious few get and if you don't go out of your way to reward your inner 90's kid by seeing this movie then.
.. well, as Billy the blue Ranger said, "You Ooze, you lose!".
