Review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie (1995) by Jacob B — 09 Jul 2018
This is a better Power Rangers movie than the 2017 movie. This film adaptation is stupid and cheesy but it knows how campy it is. The performances are crap though Paul Freeman seems to be having fun playing the villain, the action is bad - it's just the Rangers randomly punching and kicking - and there is some really bad CGI.
However, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie embraces its stupidity and campiness and it could be funny at times. Since the show itself was campy, you can give this movie credit for being faithful to its source material.
And it has to be better than the PG-13 movie. This one has sweet, sweet fanservice in the form of some witch lady who briefly assists the Rangers. It's full of that BODACIOUS and TUBULAR '90s 'TUDE but it's still fun, in its own strange way.
