Woody was getting too old to have a wife played by Helena Bonham Carter. I remember an episode of the Simpsons when Marge asks if anyone has seen the new "Woodsy Allen" film and Ned Flanders (of all people) admits to liking his movies except for "that short, nervous-looking fellow" that always appears in them.
This is one of the better films that Woody made in the last 20 years, but it doesn't hold up to his earlier triumphs.
