Review of Midsommar (2019) by The3Academysins — 20 Jul 2019
Apparently, Ari Aster wrote Midsommar after going through a bad break-up. ...Can someone please check on him and make sure he's okay? Because this is some of the most disturbing and gory film-making I have ever seen in my life.
This movie does have some incredible cinematography and art design. Seriously, every frame is bursting off the screen. Even the gore is superbly executed. If you don't like gore, this will turn you off.
Midsommar is a very slow burning film. The story really takes its time to get weird and disturbing. Once it reaches peak horror, it will stick with you. That being said, I do think it's less accessible than even Hereditary, Aster's last movie. However, if you are a die-hard horror fan like I am, or if you really like weird horror or gore-or, then you will enjoy Midsommar.
