Review of Midnight Special (2016) by Dominic L — 12 Apr 2016
Watched it last night. Very enjoyable. It felt very slow, with absolutely no rush at getting dialogue out; this bordered on a little "draggy" when it came to sentences along the lines of, "He has something to tell you." We wait 10 seconds while the camera shows everyone's very expressive faces. "Okay" someone else says. More expressive faces. "It's all okay" someone else says. More faces...
I really enjoyed it, though, and I suppose that sense of very slow-burning is because most movies are dialogue-heavy (often without bringing anything major to the story).
Quite a "different" sort of movie, and definitely reminiscent of Spielberg.
