It's like a really good episode of the X-Files.
Midnight Special owes a lot of its plot to Starman (1984) and its overall feel to the Steven Spielberg oeuvre but it's a wonderful little sci-fi pursuit flick.
Like a really good episode of the X-Files, it doesn't answer all your questions but is well worth the ride. Also worth mentioning, this movie full establishes Adam Driver as this generation's Jeff Goldblum.
