Review of Midnight Run (1988) by Robert M — 14 Dec 2008
I can't begin to tell you how many times I saw this comedy gem! As for the other reviewers who also love it, YIPPIE! This first-class comedy-thriller features Charles Grodin as an accountant that stole 15 million dollars from the mafia and sends out postcards to them! And when I say first class, Mardukas doesn't like to fly, which begins the comedic relationship between him and Walsh.
Robert de Niro is the freelance bounty-hunter who has the tedious task of getting Mardukas ( Grodin ) back to L.A., because his bail bonds guy, played hysterically by Pantoliano, bailed him out-not knowing who he was at the time.
To make a long story short, we are met with an adventure that takes us to New York, Kansas, Wyoming, Arizona and California. To sum up where this movie goes: Wait a minute, I'm in Boise Idaho in the lobby of a Howard Johnsons wearing a pink carnation.
See the movie and laugh your belly off! And if you're obssessed like me, you will wind up repeating the dialogue too often. Let's get some donuts!
