Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Coop L — 09 Feb 2008
A remarkable film about a young American's incarceration in a decrpit turkish prison for the attempted smuggling of 2 kilos of hash. The screenplay was written by the great Oliver Stone, and I believe he even gained an oscar for this work.
Amongst the creative talent in this film is the somewhat unknown Brad Davis in a riveting performance as the the American Billy Hayes, aswell as some memorable appearances by John Hurt and Randy Quaid.
This film could without a doubt be the best prison film ever made, just below the likes of The Great Escape and Stalag 17, the latter of which is acctually mentioned in the movie.
