Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Tyson P — 27 May 2013
Based (partially) on a true story, "Midnight Express" is a powerfully, intense drama film. Dramatic acting (Brad Davis' performance was very convincing; he should have been nominated for an Oscar!), sorrowful moments that are accompanied by sorrowful music, & morbid scenery of a brutal prison makes this film absolutely shocking & hellish; I feel sorry that this experience had to happen to the real Billy Hayes.
Won 2 Oscars (Best Original Score & Best Adapted Screenplay) & nominated for 4 others including Best Director (Alan Parker) & Best Picture (didn't win). "Midnight Express" is one of the best films of the 1970s & is one of Alan Parker's most powerful films, next to "Pink Floyd: The Wall"!
