Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Robin W — 16 Oct 2013
A harrowing prison story based on the book and experiences of William Hayes an American citizen caught by Turkish customs while trying to smuggle hash to the U.S, William or Billy as he's called is made an example of and gets an unusually harsh sentence.
One of the things that makes this movie work is the exceptional acting performance from Brad Davies which makes the main-character very easy to sympathise with, but also the solid performances from both Randy Quaid and John Hurt.
As a result of these incredible performances the viewer is fully indulged in the hardship and misery that is the Midnight Express story. Hats of to Alan Parker, Oliver Stone and Billy Hayes for this incredible drama based on real events.
