Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Codie E — 02 Mar 2009
Jon Voight's naive Joe Buck is a wonderful guide for the audience into this seedy and dirty world. His scenes with Dustin Hoffman are absolutely brilliant, the chemistry the pair share is wonderful.
But some of the technical florishes and trippy sequences don't work as well as they did in Schlesinger's Billy Liar without that film's charm and fantasy. Here they don't quite work in the real world portrayed.
