Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Liz — 29 Dec 2011
Infamous for the "X" rating, but beloved for the harsh and radiant performances.
Jon Voight channeled naivete as though it were his sole-purpose and Dustin Hoffman captivated with his off-center and penetrating performance. Directed by John Schlesinger, a man with whom back-alley beauty is not lost, the duo brought crowds to their knees and the Best Picture Oscar to the party.
A film that speaks for itself.
Must see for every film lover and anyone else out there who needs a cinematic gem with transcendent performances and a beguilingly perceptive screenplay-director team.
