Review of mid90s (2018) by Andrea W — 26 Oct 2018
Holy crap. When I saw an 11-yr old (age never determined) male as the main character, I immediately thought I was NEVER going to be able to relate. Dang...Even if you skated/skate you can cry foul on the music/clothing not falling in the genre your city scene did, but there's no denying the overall feeling.
Nowadays everyone is connected via social media so their likes/dislikes and habits are all similar. Back in the day it was geographics.
I stumbled upon an attractive dude at a bank parking lot when I was 16 and my life is way different today than it would've been if I could've met someone who worked for my dad doing construction. Or maybe not.
But what I do know is that we were all so different in both age and lifestyle. Our common denominator is that we ran into each other geographically and decided to be friends. And regardless of whether or not we matched, we always had each other's back's. And it was this weird bizarre puzzle of differences that glued us together.
Strsight-edge, addict tendencies, sexuality, tagged, raver, preppy... we still had each other's backs. And I'm not sure how we all met, but it was definitely geographical.
This movie gave all the feels of that decade regardless of what your pop culture influences were. It was perfect. ????
