Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Samantha S — 16 Feb 2010
Metallica have a LOT of feelings. This movie was sort of like Celebrity Rehab except it just focused on Metallica and there were no mentions of childhood sexual abuse. All the guys in Metallica seem fairly normal ultimately.
It was surprising to me to hear grown men, and rockstars none the less, talking about their feelings and being like "when you do this, it makes me feel...". So bizarre. I think one of the highlights of the movie for me was actually when Dave Mustaine and Lars sat down to work out their problems.
Given I had seen Metallica Behind the Music an hour before watching the movie so that made it all the more interesting. Do all 40-50 year old men gain the ability to talk about their feelings like this after they have families and have given up alcohol??
