Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Maharet H — 12 Jul 2009
Let's see. this was one of the best documentaries I've seen. This movie gave us, fans, the chance to see our idols in a new light, we were able to see them as human beings with flaws and everything. I was very surprised to see James Hetfield as the ultimate diva! I always thought Lars was the one who was always objecting everything, how wrong I was.
My favorite parts of this film were their interactions with their kids. James singing with little Castor in his arms holding him was a very lovely image. Myles Ulrich playing the drums claiming "I'm going to play like daddy does" was a priceless image I could never have seen otherwise.
The moment where James goes to his daughter's ballet class was so sweet and funny, he was completely out of place and character, I mean the trash metal god attending ballet lessons was something you don't see every day.
All in all was a great work and I enjoyed it, I still love James Hetfield, diva attitude included!
