Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Chris H — 27 Apr 2010
Many reviews recommend Some Kind of Monster to everyone, regardless of if their a fan of Metallica or not. I disagree in a way. I would recommend it to the fans of Metallica as well as people who like documentaries.
If your not a fan then you may or may not appreciate it as much as others will. Fans will appreciate the reality that Metallica faced when recording the St. Anger album. Granted in my opinion St. Anger was far from what The Black Album or Master Puppets was but it was still very intersting to see what Lars and Kirk went through with James going to rehab and the hunt for a new bassist.
Some Kind of Monster is one of the better music related documentaries that ive seen recently. Say what you will about Metallica as people or activists of piracy they are very talented people.
