Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Jeffrey D — 25 Mar 2011
OK, I'm incredibly biased on this one. Metallica is my favorite band, so I knew I was going to like this. But this is my favorite documentary because it delves into a side of rock and metal music that is rarely seen.
From a musician's standpoint, I love seeing how "St. Anger" was made and the process that they took to create that under-appreciated album. (Yes, I like "St. Anger". Yes it's their "worst" record, but it's still a heck of a lot better than some other music I've heard).
Anyways, anyone interested in Metallica, heavy metal music, or rock music in general should check this out. For a musician, it's a must-see.
