Review of Mesrine: Public Enemy #1 (2008) by Peter M — 25 Aug 2010

Great gangster film. Is very generic in its depictions of the gangster world but that didn't take away from it for me. Vincent Cassel is brilliant in lead role with a very good supporting cast including another good turn from Gerard Depardieu.

It is very fast moving through the various aspects of his early life of crime. There are some quite disturbingly nasty scenes which some will not enjoy, particularly when he turns horribly on his wife when returing to the mob after being in prison.

I am very interested to see what the second film will bring and whether it will be as action packed as the first.
