Review of It (2017) by Peter M — 08 Sep 2017
Let me just start with I knew nothing about this movie going in, I just went with a friend because I like horror movies. I did watch the trailer before hand and let me tell you if you thought that was intense you haven't seen anything yet.
Now I've seen many horror movies but none of them have made me as terrified as this one. the film starts off kind of slow and eerie and I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have come in the first place, I could've watched The Hit-man's Bodyguard a third time.
A few minutes later this crazy clown just bit off a little boys arm and I nearly wet myself, I was like holy cow! What did I get myself into? It was in that moment where I realized this was a good horror movie.
The film continues and becomes a little more light hearted focusing on the children more and got a few seconds I forgot that this is a scary movie. The characters had such interesting and depressing lives, let me tell you there are some awful parents in this film.
Aside from that I loved all the kids especially Eddie, who kind of reminds me of myself, the worried one, whose afraid of germs and you know I'm already shivering thinking about that stuff. They all were fantastic characters and they're actors really nailed it.
Every horrific sequence was just heart racing and stopping I don't know these characters so I was sure they all were going to die like in most horror movies, and I am never attached to many characters in horror movies, but you really get to know these guys, all of them were so unique and intriguing to me.
Did I mention how I was really terrified? I don't think there was a moment I wasn't at the edge of my seat shaking and I was actually shaking I had to breathe deeply to calm myself. I was so afraid of what was going to happen to the characters I just kept thinking "just run away, get out of there holy cow what is going to happen next?" I also think that romance was handled very well and could be happy with either of the guys who liked Beverly.
It was a pleasant surprise when none of the main characters died I was relieved to know that, until the end credits hit saying chapter one and that's when I realized there is more than this. I also have to mention before this movie I had a huge fear of clowns this movie actually cured it, surprising because I was watching it thinking PROOF THAT CLOWNS ARE SCARY! Then I realized I don't have to be afraid anymore, because if these kids aren't afraid of this child eating clown then I shouldn't be afraid of clowns that accidentally pop your balloon when you were four years old and start laughing like a maniac saying "oopsie doopsie what a mistake I just made!" Freaked me out.
There were so many parts of this movie I want to go on about but I have to remember this is a review and not a novel. Overall this is a true masterpiece and I could go on for days about how this is probably the most scariest movie to date.
(Well in my opinion).
