Review of Meshes of the Afternoon (1943) by Ricardo O — 10 Nov 2009
One of the greatest and most talked about Surrealist films of all time. Ranks almost as high as Luis Buñuel's Un Chien Andalou and any of the many David Lynch films that owe a lot to this film as well as Buñuel's other masterworks.
It is a surreal, violent, erotic, hypnotising, disturbing and quite beautiful piece of film. A landmark of Avant-Garde filmmaking.
