Review of Menace II Society (1993) by V S — 27 May 2010
The opening sequence of the film is interesting and somewhat shocking. Two of the main characters, Caine and O-Dog lack depth, but the actors playing these characters (Turner and Tate) give as much as they can to the script. The story seems a bit dated in 2010, but still seems sad and real at the same time.
I was very impressed with The Hughes Brothers' film debut. To think that these guys were only 21 years old when the movie was filmed is pretty impressive.
Caine says in the film, "My grandpa asked me one time if I care whether I live or die. Yeah I do. Now it's too late.".
Here's to hoping that it's not too late for all the lost people mixed up in this lifestyle--Black, White, Brown, etc.
