Review of Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) by Nikki D — 08 Oct 2009
Not entirely terrible. It's a beautiful Cinderella story, but the storyTELLING doesn't evoke emotion at all. Plus, the actors possess such terrible accents that parts are incomprehensible. Perhaps the film should have been shot in Japanese? So that the actors focused more on their performances, not pronouncing the words correctly? Particularly the supporting characters seemed detatched and act-by-numbers-ish.
A great first draft, but with far too many blemishes to be considered a serious movie.
