The cultural research is very poorly done, from hair and wardrobe to speach and manners. The Geishas are portrayed by chinese actresses. Why, when there are so many wonderful japanese actors (like Miho Kanno)?
In the end this movie adaption is indeed very american with no hint whatsoever of a japanese context.
