Review of Memento (2000) by Mark S — 24 Jan 2016
"Memento" plays out like the bold experiment of a film-school graduate. It's not for everybody, but it's a unique and mind-bending ride for anybody who can make it through the first ten minutes.
Christopher Nolan's trademark style is very apparent in the deep questions, flashbacks, and recurring visual motifs. The ending is worthy of a Hitchcock thriller, even if the story's resolution is ambiguous and open-ended.
Notable is a fine performance by a younger Guy Pearce in the lead role.
