Review of Memento (2000) by David C — 11 Jan 2015
This was one of my favorite movies I have ever watched. It is filmed in reverse chronological order, kind of like Pulp Fiction, where it starts from the ending and rewinds to what lead up to it. The main character has a short term memory defect after getting knocked in the head by a man who helped kill his wife.
He was an investigator in the past that dealt with a case similar to his right now, which allows him to remember to take note of important facts. As he tattoos and writes down whatever he knows, he gets closer and closer to the truth.
Nearing the end, Christopher Nolan messes with the audience's mind by suggesting that the main character, Leonard, has already killed the murderer but a supposed "friend" keeps leading him on hunts to fulfill his desire for revenge.
