Review of Melinda and Melinda (2004) by Mark M — 29 Oct 2005
Four writers are sitting at a table and one throws out one story, then two others take this story and each one plays it as a comedy, the other as a drama. This concept could either crash and burn or work very well, and Woody Allen flies with this film, Allen?s best in at least ten years. Melinda is the character that is in both, and though she is the central person, the people that surround her are the best part. Plus, Will Ferrell is in it, so of course it?s funny! The best part about the film is how each portion of the story unravels with events and items that are crucial to both stories, but they happen to different characters and they change their lives in different ways. It is like Melinda is the center of both stories, but the events that unfold around her are spinning in complete opposite directions. I couldn?t get enough if it!.
