Review of Melinda and Melinda (2004) by Daniel H — 28 Aug 2009
Better than average comedy drama from Woody Allen, featuring some great talent. Will Ferrell is particularly good. The movie poses an interesting question on life, love etc. whilst being amusing if never truly funny. Still, the jarring way it connects and interwines 2 stories is rewarding.
It all looks and feels more like a play than a movie though. I'm no expert on Allen, but all the characters feel like different sides to his pysche than real people in their own right and that idulgence tainted my enjoyment of what is in places a charming film.
