Review of Melancholia (2011) by Adrian A — 16 Aug 2015
Powerful, thought provoking, beautifully edited and scored, and with wonderful performances all around. Melancholia isn't determined to make you depressed, but instead is going to make you think. Von Trier keeps this fairytale-esque story's characters grounded, while letting the premise take on as romantic and grand a scale as it should warrant. We are talking about the end of the world, after all.
At the end of the day, this movie will find its audience, and you'll count yourself lucky if you find yourself among them.
