Review of Melancholia (2011) by Kristi M — 10 Nov 2015
I had a hard time getting through this, I started it and turned it off to revisit later several times. The work is absolutely beautiful, and without that I don't think I could have ever successfully finished this movie.
The analogy is way too forced unfolding at such a painfully slow pace that I lose patience with it. Screw things up, repercussions will follow, misery for all involved and worlds will end. It's confused- should I celebrate moments in life when life doesn't matter? I can pick up on the most subtle symbolism and foreshadowing so when Melancholia shoves it down my throat I feel like I'm being subjected to Analogies for Dummies.
