Review of Melancholia (2011) by Cle S — 17 Jul 2014
Surprisingly unsubstantial piece of cinema. While it features an all-star cast with fabulous acting and stunning visuals, the story couldn't be more bathetic. The film is divided into two parts, both featuring women going mad.
While the first one seems like a kind of social drama and isn't bad to watch, the second one reminds me of lousy supernatural horror. I have no idea what LVT wanted to create with this semi-esoteric movie, that can't serve as an example for European film-making virtuosity.
