Review of Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) by Lesley O — 15 Oct 2007
This is one of the best movies ever. I love the song "The boy next door" and when Judy Garland sings "Have yourself a merry little christmas" (i tear up every time). Its absolutely wonderful! From the setting of the movie to the songs to the craziness of the family, everything flows together to create a wonderful story that pulls the audience right in.
There's a sweet young love story laid beautfiully within the plot, trouble for the family, and great comic relief (mostly contributed by Tootie, the youngest sister). Its definitely a different kind of movie than you'll see today, but I think with its charm, "Meet Me in St Louis" could still hold its own.
