Review of Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) by Michael L — 04 Jun 2009
Besides the fact that Judy Garland just radiates from the screen in this movie, I completely LOVE the family interactions of this movie. They love, fight with and stand up for each other like any modern family I can think of. The entire cast has a fantastic chemistry. I particularly love the family's interest in the long-distance phone call and how the dad is always complaining about not knowing what is going on.
The Trolley Song section of this one of my favorite musical movie scenes. I even downloaded it to my ipod! No one sings like Judy.
Had to grab a Kleenex for the part where Judy sings Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas to Margaret O'Brien. Judy just is so lovely in her red gown and that strange scarf thing on her head and it's a beautiful song with a sweet little girl with tears on her cheeks, how can you not start the waterworks?
I <3 this movie.
