Review of Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) by Angelos K — 25 Jun 2012
Vincente Minnelli's Musical Meet Me in St. Louis is the movie where Minnelli met his first wife Judy Garland who also star in this film. The film is set in the early twentieth century only mounts from the great St.
Louis World Fair in 1904. We follow the suburban family named Smith, a family of four daughter and one son. They are all looking forward to the World Fair next year, but their father is offered a job in New York, which means that they have to leave everyone they love behind, like with Esther (Judy Garland) has to do with John Truett (Tom Drake) her next door neighbor.
Meet Me in St. Louis is a colorful and wonderful musical with a lot of adorable characters specially the child star Margaret O'Brien as Tootie. Thumbs up.
