Review of Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) by Katie S — 04 Aug 2007
Despite the (irritating) chorus that seems to play throughout the movie "Meet Me in St. Louis" this really is a great movie. I couldn't stop thinking that what I was seeing was American culture at its most rich and respectable. The songs in this musical are catchy and Garlands character is very likeable from the beginning through to the end. Sometimes the problems the characters face seem so unimportant in todays world that what should perhaps be a moment where the audience should sympathize with the character I found myself laughing.
Anyway, definately a must see.
