Review of Meet John Doe (1941) by Nandi C — 07 Sep 2007
One of the most intersting films with a moral. For a while, it seemed as though Stanwyck and Cooper were cast around the early 40s(Ball of Fire is another). Anyhow, Stanwyck is a female reporter looking for an angle or plot to have an average man doing things but ending it all on Christmas Eve because he feels that humanity was getting too hard with the "little man"(Gosh, wonder how he'd take it in THESE times).
Anyway, he gets caught up in a media blitz, but comes to find out, it was all a plan from the get go with an even bigger plan about to be hatched behind the scenes. Just to let you know that everything may not be as though it may seem.
I really like this movie because it teaches some lessons you really don't see in everyday films but at the same time, there is something in there for everybody.
