Review of Meek's Cutoff (2011) by Robert H — 21 May 2011
Well, THAT is interesting. Shot in 4x3 ratio, and moving at the pace of its oxen, this film brings us down to a pretty basic level: we need water. It leaves us with an ending that clearly did not satisfy the young women seated behind me, who obviously wanted a different, traditional resolution.
The piece has a hypnotic charm, as well as a speaker of Nez Percà (C), who gets to speak quite a lump of it, and I'm a sucker for exotic and endangered lingo.
