Review of Meek's Cutoff (2011) by Claudette A — 09 Nov 2011
A slow meditative study of the human psyche in times of desperation for survival. Subtle tensions and subversive social politics drive this impressionistic art-western. Nothing is wrapped up nicely or spelled out and there isn't any of the familiar hoarse chases or shootouts that the genre usually promises.
However, for those who are patient and love a beautifully photographed, well acted, well directed movie, "Meek's Cutoff" is an eery and unique experience.
