Review of Mean Streets (1973) by Miikka O — 16 Oct 2008
Really a cool movie, which does not try to do to anything unnecessary. It's just an entertaining story of the New York City in the early 70s and some Italian-American fellas trying to survive with the pace of the city.
The movie has a strong cast, having De Niro and Keitel as the shiniest stars, and when Scorsese really loyal to his style portrays the city in a detailed way, the end-result is highly entertaining all the way.
Also worth mentioning is a really decent sound-track, consisting of the contemporary music of the time. Good fun and highly recommendable.
