Review of Mean Streets (1973) by Tim J — 23 Sep 2009
Scorsese made this after John Cassavetes told him that Boxcar Bertha - his second film - was crap, and that he should concentrate on making the films he wanted to. This film is like an explosion, frantic and unpolished, but with an undeniable and irresistible power; something of a blue-print for what was to follow.
