Review of Mean Streets (1973) by Nick C — 26 Sep 2009
Scorsese gives us one of his first attempts at a movie, and it is marvelous. Simple, yet complicated. Cheaply done, but wonderfully acted with a great screenplay. He gives us something that we more than likely would have never seen in a movie if we were around in 1973.
I'm reminded of Goodfellas, with the quick cuts, wonderful acting and a simple situation gone awry. In 1973, I bet no one had seen a film like this, and I wish I was there to witness it.
