Review of Mean Girls (2004) by Corinna O — 29 Apr 2014
Before this film came out, there were films out there like clueless that were considered as 'chick flicks' and after seeing this film, I have to say that it is one of the best teen films out there. The first time I watched this film was when I was 12 and now on their 10 years anniversary, I still think it is an amazing film. It is all about a girl who moves from Africa to a school where everyone is split up into groups and she and her friends work together to try and sabotage the plastics. As well as this film being a comedy, it also tells us girls especially how we act like we always talk about people behind their back and we always want to try and fit in.
This will probably the only films that all of your friends would have watched with some amazing quotes like 'you go glen coco' and ' on Wednesday we wear pink' but the best one is 'that is so fetch'. Now everyone says that fetch will never happen but after the success of this film, I have to say that fetch has been happening for 10 years and will go on for more years to come like this film.
This film has created an incredible career pathway for people like Lindsay lohan, Rachel Adams and Amanda seyfried as they have gone to have successful careers and sometimes, it is weird watching these films again and seeing their faces because you see the girl from mamma Mia and the girl from the notebook. This film has also given a pathway to other films out there like easy A showing that teen films don't always have to be cheesy and can be really iconic and watched by anyone. I also think that teen films made by comedians like Tina Fey are so amazing like pitch perfect which was written by Elizabeth banks because they always show the real essences of teens everywhere.
