Review of Mean Girls (2004) by Frank V — 29 Apr 2014
Easily one of the most overrated films of all time, Mark Water's Mean Girls delivers above average for it's genre, but below average on any other standard. Intended to be funny, I laughed exactly twice.
I found everyone in the film (save for one character) completely dislikable. Couple that with the boring formulaic plot and you've got a tiresome film that treads the tracks of so many before it. Cinematography and direction is practically non-existent and was truly exceptionally boring.
One saving grace of the film is it's good pacing and efficient run time. It at least knows what it is and is not trying to be something else. This being said it still has flaws that are inexcusable.
2/5.
