Review of Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) by Vincent M — 03 Mar 2008
An intriguing debut from director Miranda July. Me, You and Everyone We Know explores sexuality, love and art with it's characters in an honest, believable humorous manner. The offbeat and peculiar relationship between main characters is somewhat reminiscent of Punch Drunk Love, only with much stranger overtones.
As the film reveals it's themes we see that what on the surface could be construed as controversial and difficult subject matter is presented for a whole other purpose entirely. July's calm and well reflected direction is perfect and promises she'll have a rewarding career as a film maker.
