Review of Me and Orson Welles (2008) by Cristian B — 08 Dec 2009
A thoroughly enjoyable and charming film about the love of art. Director Linklater offers sharp direction in showing all of the drama that goes into putting on a play. Linklater gets terrific work from his ensemble cast.
Efron does his best and most mature work yet as the naive high school student. Danes is strong and deceptively flirtatious in her role. But the film belongs to Christian McKay as Orson Welles. He gives a great, award-worthy, breakthrough performance that embodies Welles in all of his arrogance and genius.
A fascinating and entertaining experience.
