Review of Me and Orson Welles (2008) by Olivia D — 23 Dec 2009
This is really more of a what-happened-behind-the-curtains story about Orson Welles' production of Julius Caesar than the love story between Zac Efron's character and Claire Danes' character.
And because of that and therefore for the most part, it is fascinating and quite interesting. Zac Efron is still playing the doe eyed cutie/teen idol but he manages to convey the charactre's naivety and youthful charm (not much of a stretch there) quite effectively.
Whether he got the chops to broaden his acting range, well, we will see in the future but at least he knows how to use his matinee looks to his advantage here. But of course, the best thing in this is Orson Welles and McKay (and to be honest, most of the other in his theatre group) are all a joy to watch! Undemanding but not really for your average Zac fan.
