Review of Me and Orson Welles (2008) by Larry B — 08 Jul 2010
Okay, it's not a great movie, but there is so much to like here that excessive criticism seems kind of churlish. Me and Orson is actually a pretty standard coming-of-age period piece, but a lot of interest is added by the interesting setting and famous supporting characters.
If you nurse a starry-eyed nostalgia for a period you're too young to remember... you may not fall in love here, but you'll certainly spend a happy couple hours. McKay (who?) is wonderful as Welles, and I think Efron is actually going to be a real movie star.
It's kind of cool to see real talent rise from the pop culture shitpile.
