Review of Me and Orson Welles (2008) by Kelley C — 26 Aug 2010
I was so excited for this movie. I am a theatre nerd, and the tagline is "All's fair in love and theatre".. So I'm thinking "YES! This sounds like my kind of film". I was sadly let down.
This film felt very long, and I found Orson Welles to be extremely unlikable, which was something that peeved me, because as an audience member, I wanted to like Orson Welles. Yes, he was brilliant, but they played him as a total d*ck, I was a big fan, however, of Zac Efron's honest portrayal of the film's young protagonist.
He was a joy to watch (and not hard to look at either... Geez, he is adorable in this film). I was not a fan of the ending, I am not sure why. It may have left it a little too wide open. Overall, not a terrible movie, but I won't be running out to buy it anytime soon.
