Review of Me and Orson Welles (2008) by Andrew W — 31 Aug 2011
This film tries to instil a perfect other world vibe as a 17 year old blags his way into the cast of the Mercury Theatre led by Orson Welles. Egos abound and actors strut and preen whilst they try to pull together Caesar, Welles' adaptation of Julius Caesar.
Efron is likeable enough and the supporting cast passable but there is an air of superficiousness about the whole affair. Pleasant enough, drags a bit from time to time, but no Citizen Kane.
