Review of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) by Tex S — 27 Jun 2015
Incredible movie. While many will try and compare the plot to Fault in Our Stars, it's nothing like it, and it makes it clear from the start that it's not trying to be. While we get the sense of a slight romance going on between Greg and Rachel, it never fully blooms, and always denies it, which is an interesting and intelligent idea.
The film, though sad towards the end, is hilarious for most of the movie with its witty and smart script. The directions from Gomez-Rejon is both stunning and stylish, as he clearly knows how to set up shots through the movie that give it a bit of a quirky vibe.
The performances are also fantastic, the three leads all doing amazing and perfect jobs in their roles.
