I'll be the first to admit "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" had me.

At the 1st preview. Youth, diversity, adversity themes that all work.

For me.

Clearly the preview seem to tilt the movie towards more of the warm and fun.

Parts of the movie. It was...in parts..but had some real high school age.

"hard themes" that I thought the film brought right to the surface.

Teenage angst, bullying, social groups, cancer, teen awkwardness,.

Parental angst, socio economic conflicts, college planning and more.

This is not a warm and fuzzy film yet it was immensely well done.

Stay to the end ....it is genuine & poignant. I loved the quirkiness of the characters,.

Their stories, their issues. The three lead actors (Thomas Mann, Olivia.

Cooke, and Ronald Cyler 11) become good friends but in a disjointed way.

...sort of like most teenage friendships.

Not going to be in theaters long. Presently playing in the very special.

Showroom in Asbury Park (great venue).
